The Center School's ESY "Danger Island" theme continued this week with today being Bridge to Survival day! Students had to build bridges to maneuver around Danger Island and those bridges had to be made with certain materials. Bridges were made to enter one of three categories for the contest. Judges awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for prizes. Everyone was gathered in the MPR for the contest. Lots of fun!

The Center School wishes everyone a fabulous 4th of July 2026! Our great country, 250 years old today, is something to be proud of. This best country in the world was created and then sustained by men and women who sacrificed and worked toward the greater good of our Democratic Republic, over individual interests, for 250 years. We should all hope this selflessness continues and we continue to protect and prize our freedoms.

During The Center School's last week of school, students and staff were given the opportunity to attend a discussion on the 250th Anniversary of New Jersey during the American Revolution given by Dr. Rinaldi. The presentation was part of the school's efforts to integrate the Semiquincentennial into its history curriculum. The NJ Department of Education (NJDOE) and RevolutionNJ invites K-12 schools and districts to become official educational partners in this momentous commemoration, which will take place during the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. These activities and supports are designed to last beyond the commemoration and be incorporated as curriculum staples to strengthen social studies education in New Jersey for years to come. Dressed as a New Jersey militiaman from his many years as a reenactor of the American Revolution, Dr. Rinaldi explained how the various towns and communities each of our students and staff members hail from have myriad historical sites and historical significance to the War of American Independence. They also learned about the many historical events coming up commemorating the 250th anniversary of our country and why they should visit and attend them to learn more about their communities.
