September 30 | 6PM-8PM
New Lexington Library Meeting Room

Rowan Jacobsen, author of Apples of Uncommon Character, explores some of the most exotic, colorful, delicious, mysterious, and downright strange apples you’ll ever meet during this live virtual event. Profiling some of the best and brightest, the oddballs and old veterans, Jacobsen tells the tale of the apple in America and reveals a world every bit as magical as it was over a century ago.

The program will begin with a short presentation by Ted Wiseman, Ohio State - Perry County Extension, focusing on the unique facts about apples in our local area and the State of Ohio.

Enjoy a delicious apple-themed tasting as part of this Taste of the Times program! One participant will win a copy of Jacobsen's book!

When the lights go out, the food safety clock starts ticking. Prolonged power outages can turn a stocked refrigerator or freezer into a health risk, allowing harmful bacteria to grow in foods that may still look and smell perfectly safe. Due to the recent rainfall, flooding, and power outages in Perry County, you may wonder what foods to keep and what to throw away. Knowing how to protect your food and how to recognize when it is no longer safe to eat can help prevent foodborne illness and help keep your family healthy during and after an emergency.

Please see the links below for some helpful food safety articles during a disaster.
