Investing in public education is investing in the future of the Kenai Peninsula.
The KPB Assembly still has the power to fully fund education to the cap — but they need to hear from our community before the final vote.
Show up for KPBSD students on Tuesday, May 19 at 6 PM and help send a loud, clear message: our schools are worth investing in!
Support staff deal with many of these same issues as well. It is time for a fair contract, a livable wage, and a safe work environment for all KPBSD staff!

We have been working the entire school year without a contract-that’s not sustainable or respectful. Bargaining is in mediation and nearing impasse, and the School Board is paying attention. Help us pack the room and send a clear message - we’re ready to do what it takes for a fair TA! Join us on May 4th at 5:30. Wear red, bring your signs, and tell a friend!

Opinion: Anchorage’s shrinking schools aren’t inevitable — they’re the result of policy choices Public education succeeds when two things are in place: resources and accountability. Alaska has neither.

BREAKING: A major step forward for Alaska’s educators!
Today, the Alaska State Senate passed HB 78, legislation to restore a defined benefit retirement system, by a 12–8 vote.
After nearly two decades of advocacy, this vote marks a significant milestone for public employees across the state.
For too long, the lack of a stable, secure retirement has made it harder to keep experienced educators in our classrooms and attract new ones to our state.
Stay tuned for the next steps to push this bill to the finish line. We’re closer than ever before!
