A Message From Superintendent Holland: Community Pools Update – Kenai Peninsula Borough School District 07/24/2026

A Message From Superintendent Holland: Community Pools Update

"Community swimming pools are important to our students and our communities. They support physical education, athletics, therapy services, recreation, swim lessons, and water safety while providing gathering places for people of all ages.

Over the past year, we've explored several possible ways to keep pools open. We are now working toward a partnership model that allows the District to continue operating community pools while sharing financial responsibility with municipalities, private partners, community organizations, and pool users.

By sharing responsibility, we believe we can create a model that preserves community pools while allowing the District to remain focused on its primary mission of educating students."

Congratulations to Our KPBSD Advanced Placement Students!

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is proud to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our students who completed the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams this year!

Collectively, KPBSD students achieved an impressive 80% pass rate, earning scores of 3, 4, or 5—scores that are widely recognized by colleges and universities as demonstrating college-level knowledge and achievement.

Advanced Placement courses provide students with the opportunity to challenge themselves through rigorous, college-level coursework while still in high school. Success on AP exams can lead to college credit, advanced placement in college courses, reduced college costs, and a stronger foundation for future academic success.

This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students, as well as the exceptional support and instruction provided by our teachers and school staff. It is also a testament to the encouragement of families who partner with our schools to help students reach their goals.

Congratulations to all of our AP students on this outstanding accomplishment. Your commitment to academic excellence is preparing you for success beyond graduation, and we are proud to celebrate your achievements.
