Traditionally, on the last day of school, students are put into multiage groupings and travel throughout the school doing fun, diverse activities. It's a nice way to channel all that summer vacation anticipation.
It was a grand entrance for the last day of school!
Happy Last Day!

We had the coolest visitors yesterday! Dimi Macheras and Casey Silver, creators of The Chickaloonies graphic novels, gave presentations about storytelling and how to draw characters that show emotion and actions. The following pictures are what the kindergarten students produced. It was astonishing what they could create in such a short amount of time. Thank you to KPBSD Indigenous Education for organizing this opportunity for multiple schools in our district.

It was the 6th-grade class's turn to release their butterflies. It's awesome that almost every grade does this project. May we never lose our sense of wonder. 🦋🦋🦋

Ms. Baktuit's second graders had a real adventure journeying down to Homer to the Alaska Island and Ocean Center. There, they experimented with a volcano lab, did rock studies, and visited Bishop's Beach. Wow! Clouds and rain were in the forecast, but the sun came out, making it a beautiful time outdoors. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to chaperone and drive so students could have this experience.

To prepare for the next school year, the 6th-grade students spent the morning touring Skyview Middle School, meeting teachers, and getting a feel for the classes and programs that will be offered to them. Good luck in middle school next year, kids! We wish you all the best as you continue your education.
