Soldotna City Council Member I am a lifelong Alaskan passionate about the issues impacting Soldotna.
I care deeply about the community and industry that makes our city the uniquely remarkable place that it is. My parents homesteaded here and were instrumental in the development of Soldotna. I thank my Mother and Father for the investment in this community and my desire to further their legacy. I am a proud wife of a veteran and mother of two sons and four grandchildren. As the Alaska Railroad Corporation begins its expansion of the Seward freight dock, one hoped for addition is expanding the width to accommodate ships with roll on/roll off freight. This would expand the range of ships that can bring freight into Seward. I'll be holding a hearing in the Senate Transportation Committee on this topic with the Alaska Railroad, TOTE Maritime, and transportation experts from the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) on Tuesday, March 31.

Soldotna City Manager Janette Bower, City Council member Lisa Parker, and Mayor Paul Whitney visited Juneau this week. I appreciated the opportunity to hear how the Legislature can best support the City of Soldotna.

We're thrilled to share that this year's Celebrating Leadership keynote speaker is Alexandra McKay!
Alex is the President/CEO of the Alaska Community Foundation, where she draws on more than 25 years of experience in public policy, philanthropy and law. A graduate of Anchorage's East High School, Alex is inspired by what she saw growing up - people giving back and shaping the Alaska they want to see.
Under Alex's leadership, ACF has taken on huge statewide efforts like the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund and the new Rural Health Transformation Program. We are grateful for her commitment and her deep love for our state, and excited to hear her reflections on leadership.
Join us for Celebrating Leadership on Friday, May 8! Last year tickets sold out, so get yours soon at https://www.akhf.org/events/celebrating-leadership-2026
