When people post blogs and reference pages on our website, we receive notifications.

We always check them out before approving the link/use - and wow, is this a really great blog on Active Listening - some really amazing and unique ways of describing the difference between hearing, listening, basic listening and the star of the show, Active Listening:

Here's a snippet and then the link to the full blog below:

"When most people hear the word 'active listening,' the image that comes to mind is probably something like this:

Don't interrupt the other person.
Nod appropriately to show you're listening.
Listen while nodding.

These are not wrong. However, these are merely the "etiquette" of active listening, not the essence itself. If you listen while only being conscious of this etiquette, you may appear to be "listening" in terms of posture, but the other person may feel that they are "not being understood."

For example, imagine a client is conveying their request at a service counter, and the staff member listens attentively, nodding along as they speak. This is perfectly polite. However, what if the subsequent response merely echoes the superficial words of the request? The client would likely not feel that they were truly heard."

「傾聴が大事」と言われても、なぜか相手に伝わらない――その理由は、傾聴という言葉に張り付いた固定観念にあります。本来の傾聴とは何か、文脈を読み解く力の本質をシュプラノートが解説します。

"In T.E.T., teachers can learn how to use Active Listening, a counseling skill that will greatly increase their effectiveness in helping students with problems that interfere with learning. But this
help is given in a way that enables the student to find his or her own solution, as opposed to being given solutions or suggestions—the typical way most teachers respond to student problems."

Uhhhh, well....let's ponder this one.

When is a good time to ask these questions?

Because if the other person you want to ask questions of is in the No Problem Area, sure, go for it.

If not, we ask that you switch your love language to one of Active Listening.

Thank you...for listening. 🥰
