🔦Student Spotlights Sunday🔦
This sweet kiddo has to work harder than others to accomplish a task. Communication challenges make expressing what she is thinking extra hard. Her body always wants to move when it is time to sit still. She sometimes takes a little encouraging to push through frustration. But she does. With a little wiggle room, some pep talks, creative teaching, and flexibility to do things her own way, she thrives. We are so happy she brings her light to Scenic Land Learning. We regularly remind her brain is unique. And having a unique brain is such a cool thing. It’s something to be proud of. Sometimes students don’t necessarily need more instruction or support. Sometimes they just need space to move and friendly reminders that they aren’t broken. Differences are celebrated here! I’m so glad this unique kiddo found her way into our classrooms! Danielle Hudson…you should be so so proud!!!

⛰️Scenic Land Learners⛰️
This is an after-school program for middle school students to get homework help, tutoring, and socialization. It will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30.
$35 an hour or $400 a month for unlimited drop-ins

💵Fund Friday
I wanted to give a shoutout to one of our golf tournament sponsors. Builtwell Bank is not just supporting our learners, it is supporting our business also. We do our banking at the Builtwell Bank in Hixson. From our first deposited check, they have been cheering us on.

🌮I want to share that the Salsarita's Fresh Mexican Grill in Hixson has also been supportive of our learning center from day one. They donated gift certificates and catering coupons for our grand opening back in January and have come through again with donations for our golfers’ swag bags. When we swung 🏌🏻‍♀️⛳️ by (see what I did there?) to pick up the donations, the employees offered us drinks to go because it was hot outside.

💸Support the businesses that support our learners. They are using their profits for good.

🪑Making room for more learners and their families! 🪑
These aren’t just new benches, they symbolize a growing learning center.
When we moved into our new space in Soddy Daisy in May, it seemed so big. It felt as if I had bought (or leased) a canvas that was too big for the art piece I had in mind. It kind of freaked me out. In my mind, we just needed one more small room so we didn’t have to have a waiting list. In my mind, I thought, “how cool is this? Every tutor can have their own space.” Then we needed more tutors. Then the most amazing art therapist brought her own magic to the learning center. Then the schedules started filling up. Today, all of our classrooms had families and students in them at the same time. A handful of students were doing open art studio in one room, a family was waiting for their learner in another room, and the other two classrooms held students having one on one tutoring. I think it was the first time I saw the learning center for all it can be. Families are ALWAYS welcome to make themselves at home in our unused classrooms. But when all of them are filled with unique students, creative teaching, and joyful learning, the families now have comfy benches in the hallway as another option.
