NMT’s Alyssa Sandusky: “A pillar of support for students, a trusted colleague for staff, and a role model” 🙌
The NMT Staff Council is proud to announce the inaugural recipient of the NMT Staff Council Quarterly Spotlight is Alyssa Sandusky. 🏆
Alyssa started her journey at New Mexico Tech as a student in 2020 and became a Resident Assistant in Housing and Residential Life the next year. She served in that role for three years while finishing her undergraduate studies. After graduating in 2024, she was hired full-time as a Residential Life Coordinator, supporting first-year students and earning a reputation for being dependable, organized, and dedicated to creating positive residential communities.
In October 2025, Alyssa moved to Auxiliary Services as the Summer Conference and Special Event Coordinator. In this role, she manages the planning and ex*****on of summer conferences and special events, coordinating logistics across departments to ensure successful programs.
As both an NMT alumna and a committed staff member, Alyssa brings a unique depth of understanding and pride to her work. Her firsthand experience as a student allows her to connect meaningfully with the campus community and serve as an authentic advocate for those she supports. 🦾
In her roles as Residential Life Coordinator and Summer Conference Coordinator, Alyssa has demonstrated remarkable commitment to both students and staff as well as customers and guests. She excels as a mentor, offering guidance that is thoughtful, patient, and deeply supportive. Many people on campus rely on her insight and calm approach when navigating challenges— and she never hesitates to lend her expertise.
Alyssa routinely goes above and beyond the duties of her position. She is always willing to step in wherever she’s needed, even when the task falls outside her scope of work. Whether she’s assisting a colleague, troubleshooting last-minute issues, or ensuring students and guests are safe and supported, Alyssa does so with genuine care and without expecting recognition.
Her dedication extends well beyond regular hours. Alyssa is known for consistently working after hours, responding to urgent situations, and making herself available when others need her. She approaches every responsibility, big or small, with the same level of commitment and integrity.
Her reliability and willingness to serve the campus community make a profound difference in the day-to-day success of our operations.
Alyssa embodies the values of NMT through her leadership, empathy, and unwavering work ethic. She is a pillar of support for students, a trusted colleague for staff, and a role model for anyone fortunate enough to work alongside her. As an alumna who continues to give back in meaningful ways, she represents the very best of what it means to be part of the NMT community.

She is genuinely kind, unfailingly helpful, and a person whose presence makes our workplace better.
