What an honor!

Happy Boss’s Day to Snyder ISD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jessica Gore! 💛🖤

Passion. Energy. A relentless drive to make Snyder ISD the best it can be. That’s Dr. Gore. She works hard, loves hard, and sees the potential in people, often before they see it in themselves. She challenges us to grow, encourages us along the way, and believes in what we can accomplish for our kids.

If you’ve ever stopped by her office and had a hard time finding her, there’s a good reason! She’s on our campuses, spending time with students, working with staff, talking with community members, and cheering on our Tigers at events. She believes being a leader means being present, listening, and staying connected to the people she serves.

As Snyder ISD’s first female superintendent, she is helping our students see what’s possible through her example as a leader, educator, and mom. She brings high expectations and a big heart to the work, encouraging those around her to grow and keeping students at the center of her decisions.

We also want to recognize her family. Thank you for sharing her time, supporting her calling, and giving so much so she can pour into our district. Behind the evening events, busy schedules, and long days is a family whose support means more than we can say.

Thank you, Dr. Gore, for believing in our kids, our people, and Snyder ISD’s future. We appreciate you and all you give to our Tiger family!

3 Snyder Junior High teachers have been formally inducted into the “Hall of Fun”!

Miss Rodriguez has art projects happening throughout her room that reflect students’ interests and choices. Students have opportunities to be creative, express themselves, and take ownership of their work. Every time I visit, I see the connection she has built with her students. They are drawn to her in the hallways, and the respect they have for her says so much.

Coach Trammel caught my attention as I was leaving the Junior High. He was talking loudly, and y’all know that draws me in for some fun! He was pairing science content with memes, and 100% of his students were engaged in the day’s learning objective. Students were having fun while learning grade-level content. What a rockstar, especially as a new teacher!

Miss Valdez has one of my favorite classrooms in the district. She and her inclusion support, Mr. Justice, were modeling the learning and helping students understand how to successfully meet the day’s objective. She has a magnetic personality that makes students feel welcome and supported. She is even a name I hear at the grocery store when people share about our All-Star teachers!

These classrooms reflect the student experience we want across Snyder ISD: students who feel connected, take an active role in their learning, and receive the support they need to succeed. What a blessing these three are to our district. Join me in celebrating them! 💪🏽

Join the Scurry County Ministerial Alliance as we gather to pray over Snyder Junior High, its students, teachers, staff, and leadership.

W E E K L Y. R E C A P. ⭐️

This week’s work focused on strengthening instructional leadership, supporting our staff, and aligning district decisions and resources to our Strategic Plan.

Monday – Campus visits, Cabinet and principal meetings, Snyder Education Foundation meeting, and a district check-in for our Long-Range Facility Planning. We also sent our second six weeks staff survey, made “Hall of Fun” (separate post) and Tiny Tiger delivery for Ms. Facio, and finished with our regular Board meeting!

Tuesday–Thursday – Snyder Independent School District was selected for Cohort 3 of the AI Strategy & Leadership Network, so we joined leaders from across the nation in working groups and think tanks. We spent time deeply researching and learning how to balance screen time with strong teaching and learning, while developing thoughtful safeguards around AI and technology use. Conversations centered on student thinking, meaningful discussion, personal connection, and data privacy.

This work also helped shape two upcoming internal projects aligned to our Strategic Plan. Tuesday and Wednesday included conversations with education leadership groups across the nation, including local and state agencies.

Friday – Coaching call, a conversation with Snyder Community Resource Center Board President, district newsletter work, caught up on emails, and shared “Community Conversations” about the progress of our district to the Martin Preuitt, Jr Chapter, NSDAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) at the Scurry County Museum.

Our Golden Tigers were also on campuses this week, sharing stories and building connections with our youngest readers!

Now enjoying a long weekend unplugged with my family. Hope our Tiger families enjoy some time together, too! 🖤

W E E K L Y. R E C A P. ⭐️

Monday: Attended the lead4ward Accountability Symposium with our academic support team, met with Cabinet, and worked with Development Corporation of Snyder, Texas - DCOS to prepare for our upcoming Workforce Roundtable with local business partners. Also attended a City of Snyder Texas City Hall meeting to prepare for White Cane Day on October 15!

Tuesday: Offered three Superintendent Roundtable opportunities for our community, including in-person and virtual options. Attended Commissioner’s Court, where Scurry County 4-H Club students presented for National 4-H Week, and held several one-on-one meetings. Met with Snyder Primary School and Snyder High School for quarterly budget reviews to check spending, prioritize needs, and plan for the remainder of the year. Also attended the choir concert, Lady Tiger volleyball game, and National Night Out!

Wednesday: we held Instructional Rounds across the district! Spent time in classrooms with our team, looking at student learning, instruction, and ways to support our teachers.

Thursday: Attended the Texas Association of School Boards TxEdConference and met with partners supporting our long-range facilities plan. Mr. Arnwine represented Snyder Independent School District at the TASB Delegate Assembly, and Mrs. Leatherwood attended Leadership TASB.

Friday: Attended the Texas Association of Midsize Schools (TAMS) board meeting and continued at the TASB TxEdConference before traveling home for First Responder Night and Tiger football!

Each week, we’re putting our Strategic Plan into action through stronger instruction, support for our staff, community partnerships, and thoughtful planning for Snyder ISD’s future.

Congratulations to Snyder Intermediate School, our 1st six weeks Staff Reflection Survey winner! Each six weeks, the campus or department with the highest completion rate earns HTeaO Snyder!

Our 6 Weeks Staff Reflection Surveys continue this year, supporting our Strategic Plan and Superintendent Entry and Ongoing Leadership Plan’s commitment to listen deeply and turn feedback into action.

First six weeks highlights included strong instruction, positive relationships, and clearer student routines and expectations. Staff also emphasized the importance of protected planning time and removing barriers that interfere with instruction. We review every response and use that feedback to guide improvements.

A full week of learning, listening, and building partnerships for Snyder Independent School District!

Monday: Campus visits, cabinet meeting, Texas Tech University College of Education governance meeting for TechTeach led by Mrs. Starnes, brainstorming with Scurry County Ministerial Alliance Director Casey Arnold, a parent meeting, and board workshop.

Tuesday: Visited Martinez Elementary in Abilene ISD to learn about their school improvement efforts. Met with the Snyder High School leadership team. Held a parent meeting, and then met with Lisa Butler for a conversation about culinary arts.

Wednesday: 1:1 meetings, campus visits, and a meeting with Mrs. Hough. Spoke with future educators in Wendy Hunter’s classroom and was interviewed by students for their TAFE project. Finished with Teacher Ambassadors and our Tiger Family pizza party!

Thursday: Student Ambassadors shared thoughts on belonging and student voice. Met with leadership teams at Snyder Junior High School, Snyder Primary School, Snyder Intermediate School. Toured the high school CTE facilities with a potential partner; attended Primary Family Night and SB Energy’s data center open house; and wrapped up with a late-night meeting with our Board President and Vice President.

Friday: 1:1 with our Assistant Superintendent (Mrs. Miller), Golden Tigers, ongoing partnership conversations with Cogdell Memorial Hospital and Clinics and Cogdell Behavioral Health, and meetings with instructional coaches and district leaders focused on alignment and support. Ended the week at White Buffalo Days on the square!

Grateful for a week of good conversations, time on campuses, and opportunities to strengthen our schools and community.
