📚✍️ CALLING ALL YOUNG AUTHORS ON MARYLAND’S EASTERN SHORE! ✍️📚

The Eastern Shore Literacy Association (ESLA) is excited to announce the 2026–2027 Young Authors’ Contest! Students in Grades 1–12 throughout Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties are invited to put their creativity on paper and share their voices through an original short story or poem.

🏆 Local winners will have the opportunity to advance to the State of Maryland Literacy Association (SoMLA) Young Authors’ Contest, where their writing will compete with outstanding student authors from across Maryland!

📅 LOCAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 18, 2026

📝 Contest Categories
• Short Story
• Poetry
• Grades 1–12

💻 Important: All entries must be the student’s original work. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support student entries is strictly prohibited.

📄 Entries must be submitted as Microsoft Word (.docx) files and follow the grade-level requirements outlined in the official contest guidelines.
