Snow Hill Elementary School serves the Town of Snow Hill, population 2,100, as well as the surrounding farmlands and unincorporated boroughs of central Worcester County. Agriculture, specifically poultry and grain production, is the county's major industrial employer. Snow Hill Elementary School (SHES) serves approximately 410 students in pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade, and is part of a consor
tium of schools that also includes Snow Hill Middle School (grades 4-8) and Snow Hill High School (grades 9-12). Snow Hill Elementary School is a Title 1 school with a focus on parent and community involvement. Additionally, SHES is a Professional Development School that partners with Salisbury University. This patnership allows uniersity education majors the opportunity to put theory into practice. In 2004, Snow Hill Elementary School was named a Maryland Blue Ribbon School as well as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Snow Hill Elementary is also recognized as a Gold Level Positive Behavior Recognition and Supports (PBIS) school through the Maryland State Department of Education and fully implements PBIS and Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (SEFEL). Additionally, the Judy Center, located at SHES, ensures school-readiness for all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students through a network of education, health and social serivces.
