Alumni Spotlight: Andy Pantoja (Class of 2018)
Andy Pantoja is a proud 2018 graduate of Mount Si High School and a shining example of where a love for music—and community—can lead. During his time in the Mount Si Band program, Andy played trombone in pep band, jazz band, and wind ensemble, immersing himself in every opportunity to make music and connect with others. Those experiences didn’t just sharpen his musicianship—they helped shape a sense of belonging that stayed with him long after graduation.
After Mount Si, Andy attended Yale University, where he studied math and computer science. Even while tackling a rigorous academic path, music remained a constant. He continued playing trombone in multiple ensembles, including a salsa band, finding familiar community and creative joy through band in a brand-new environment.
Today, Andy is a software engineer at YouTube, working on the Shorts camera for Android phones. As he reflects on his journey, Andy credits band with helping him build meaningful connections at every stage—high school, college, and now in the professional world. His story is a powerful reminder that band is more than performances and rehearsals; it’s a lifelong community that supports growth, creativity, and connection wherever life leads. 🎶
