The halls are quiet, the lockers are empty, and summer has officially begun!

Today our SMS Eagles wrapped up another incredible school year and headed off to enjoy a well-earned break. From academics and athletics to concerts, clubs, field trips, and everything in between, this year was filled with memorable moments, new experiences, and plenty of reasons to be proud.

To our eighth graders, congratulations on completing your middle school journey. We wish you all the best as you take the next step to high school and can't wait to see what you'll accomplish.

To our returning Eagles, enjoy a summer filled with fun, adventure, and relaxation. We look forward to seeing you back in the halls this fall.

Have a safe and wonderful summer, Eagles. You've earned it!

The school year may be over, but we wanted to leave our SMS families with one more reason to smile this summer.

Take a look at some of the incredible stop-motion videos created by our sixth-grade digital media students this year! From imaginative storytelling to clever animation and plenty of patience behind the camera, these projects showcase the creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills our students developed frame by frame.

Creating a stop-motion film is no small feat — it takes careful planning, attention to detail, and hundreds of tiny movements to bring an idea to life. We're so proud of the hard work and originality our students poured into these projects. Check them out at https://tinyurl.com/sms-stopmotion.

Congratulations to SMS sixth grader Hadassah Maruthupandiyan, who recently competed on the international stage at the FLL-WPI International Robotics Event (Waffle '26) in Worcester, Massachusetts!

Along with five teammates from Chief Kanim Middle School, Hadassah joined more than 100 robotics teams from around the world for an exciting weekend of innovation, collaboration, and competition. The event challenged students to put their engineering, coding, and problem-solving skills to the test while connecting with fellow robotics enthusiasts from across the globe.

Competing at an international event like this is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the hard work, creativity, and dedication these students bring to STEM learning.

Way to represent the Snoqualmie Valley on the world stage, Hadassah! We're proud of you and your teammates and can't wait to see where your talents take you next.

Field Day just hits different in middle school — and our Eagles proved it today! After enjoying our last spirit assembly of the year (ask your kiddo about the raucous staff vs. student volleyball match), each grade got their own time to celebrate with classic outdoor games, indoor activities, and plenty of chances to kick back with friends and sign yearbooks. Shoutout to our friends at Les Schwab for their continued partnership in keeping the good vibes (and popcorn!) flowing. It felt like the perfect way to wrap up the year!

Please remember: The last day of school is Tuesday, June 16, and our Eagles will be dismissed at 10.43 a.m. Lunch will not be served this day.

Have a great summer, Eagles! We'll see you back for the 2026-2027 school year on August 26!

What better way to celebrate the end of middle school than with a day packed full of fun?

This week, our SMS eighth graders headed to the Family Fun Center in Tukwila — along with their peers from Chief Kanim and Twin Falls Middle School — for a well-earned celebration before taking the next big step to high school.

From bumper boats and go-karts to mini golf, arcade games, pizza, and plenty of laughs, students spent the day making memories with friends and enjoying one last adventure together as middle schoolers.

It's hard to believe this amazing group will soon be walking the halls of Mount Si High School. Congratulations to the Class of 2030 on finishing this chapter, and here's to an exciting new one just around the corner!

It's hard to imagine SMS without these students, but Wednesday night we celebrated our eighth-grade class with a very special evening of recognition in the Mount Si High School Performing Arts Center. Families were treated to some very moving and inspirational speeches from our students and administrators, as well as stirring musical performances and a slideshow of all the students' six-word memoirs. After the presentation, students and their guests were treated to refreshments at a reception sponsored by the SES PTA. We will miss these Eagles more than they can imagine, but we cannot wait to see the amazing things that wait for them in high school.

Our future leaders are already getting a head start!

Last week, the seventh graders selected to serve as next year's WEB Leaders spent time together with WEB advisors Mrs. Espeland and Mrs. Varick, building connections through leadership games, team-building activities, and skill-building exercises that will prepare them for their important new roles.

WEB stands for "Where Everybody Belongs," and that's exactly what these outstanding students help create at SMS. As peer mentors, WEB Leaders welcome incoming sixth graders, guide them through their transition to middle school, and lend a helping hand during events like Open House and Curriculum Night.

We can't wait to see this amazing group step up, support others, and make every new Eagle feel right at home. The future of SMS is in great hands!
