One more week and we are on Summer Vacation! It's been a fun year exploring virtual lessons, and I hope we all fully enjoy our three months off. To my online students, watch your mailbox for your Summer Music Packet. It's filled with great music activities, some fun music, and several other items to make your musical Summer memorable.

Great way to start my virtual piano teaching today with a home-brewed Pumpkin Spice Latte on my Verismo machine.

Our Virtual Christmas Recital is Saturday, December 12 at noon! After a year unlike any other, we managed to hold onto our music and joyfully share it with each other and our friends and family. Thank you to all my students for this holiday miracle.

Three important things that happened in the virtual studio this month so far...1) I taught my first Advanced Music Theory class to one of my new piano students who is an accomplished classical guitar player. He hopes to start composing "atonal" pieces for the guitar ..2) All of my current online students have chosen their Christmas pieces for our Virtual Christmas Recital on December 12...3) Alexis Rios has new software for our upcoming Virtual Piano Recital with some cool special effects! Can't wait to see it!

Maltby Piano Studio Online opens next Tuesday, September 15! I am so excited to get started with Semester One! Check back for updates, social media posts, and "piano stories" from our talented students.

Our first Virtual Piano Recital was so much fun yesterday! During the previous weeks, we got to experience our "performance anxiety" while trying to record the perfect video for the event. So, once that was done, we got to sit back, relax, and enjoy all of the music that we worked so hard on this last year. Thanks to everyone who kept the music going during these difficult times .

Our first month of online/virtual lessons was a great learning experience and it was fun, also! Thanks to all of you who made this a success!

Our Christmas Piano Party yesterday was a fun way to kick off the holiday season! Each student shared their favorite piece of music. Selections ranged from Schubert's "Ave Maria" to Michele McLaughlin's "Winter Solstice", then on to music from"Howl's Moving Castle" and Elvis' "Blue Christmas". We had fun! Lots of new students got to meet many of my long-time students and share their personal Piano Story.

Only one week until our 2019 Christmas Piano Party! We have lots of new students this year, and I am looking forward to introducing them to all of you! There is a lot of practicing going on this week, and we can't wait to have our cohort group together to share our favorite holiday music. See you next Saturday, December 7 at noon. Come early to warm up on Holly's piano.

Got the piano and harpsichord tuned today. We are all ready for our first lessons of Semester One!
