We’re offering another workshop date! This one is on Zoom and will be hosted by Northern WAVE GSWW who will be continuing to host Critically Empowered Workshops after I step away from my Gold Award project.
The event is on September 11th from 1-2:30pm PST. You can register on the Northern WAVE website linked in my bio. More info is available in our Facebook event. Although the content of our workshops is targeted at middle school girls, people of all genders and ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. And you do not have to be a Girl Scout or living in Washington to join us!
Be sure to share this event with your friends and family!

Thank you all so much for attending our 8/14 workshop! I hope you all enjoyed learning about critical thinking, playing analysis games, and engaging in thought-provoking conversations about our personal experiences with media, critical thinking, and mental health.
We have some new content up on the website, including the workshop slides used at our 8/14 event. A recorded version of the workshop as well as the instructor’s guide for it will be posted soon. Also, be on the look out for our Critically Empowered Kahoot!
Thanks again to everyone who joined us for the event. Be sure to fill out the survey on our website. And if you weren’t able to make it to the event, check out the materials online!

Don’t forget! Our first ever youth workshop event is tomorrow at 3pm at the Snohomish Public Library. The content is targeted at middle school girls but anyone who is interested in learning about critical thinking is encouraged to come. This is NOT a Girl Scout event so feel free to bring any friends or family, Girl Scout or not.
See you there!

Media and its impacts on our minds is one of the central themes explored in this project. But before we can dive into how to improve our interactions with media, it is important that we first understand what media is and how our brains are already engaging with it. Look through these slides to learn more.
