👧🏽 Honoring Ruby Bridges This Week

🌟 On November 14, 1960, a brave 6-year-old girl named Ruby Bridges walked into William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans — becoming the first Black child to integrate an all-white elementary school in the South.

🚶‍♀️She walked past crowds of adults yelling at her.
She walked through fear, hatred, and injustice.
But she kept walking.

And because she did… classrooms across America would never be the same.

Ruby’s story isn’t just a history lesson — it’s a lesson in courage, perseverance, and standing up for what’s right, even when you’re the only one standing. ✊🏽

📚 This week is a beautiful, timely opportunity to:
💭 Talk about what courage looks like in real life
🖍 Read age-appropriate books about Ruby’s story
🎭 Use role-play or skits to help students understand her experience
❤️ Reflect on how even children can make a powerful difference

Her bravery reminds our students — and us — that one small step can create big change.
Her footsteps still echo today.

💬 How do you plan to honor Ruby Bridges’ courage in your classroom this week? 👇🏽

Happy Veterans Day! Let us know in the comments if you, a family member or friend served in the military.

Let's celebrate Thurgood Marshall! You can teach your students that on November 3rd, 1975, he stood before the Supreme Court once again. This time to defend every child’s right to learn without discrimination. His work reminds us that justice in education is never “one and done.”

If Thurgood Marshall visited your classroom, church or community center today, what do you think he’d be most proud of?
