It is truly terrible to hear about the loss of one of the finest young man I have ever known, SPC EJ Murphy. I am deeply saddened by the loss that his family has encountered as well. Every time he came back home to visit, he would stop by to check in with his old JROTC unit. That promoted so much joy and pleasure to me. I enjoyed having Etienne as a student/cadet. He brought a certain level of competitiveness and confidence to the JROTC program that will never be forgotten. I express my sincere sympathy to his family.
Below is a picture of me and SPC Murphy that was taken while he visited the JROTC unit before heading off to airborne school. Rest In Peace Hard Charger! You gave the ultimate sacrifice to your nation.
