Our 4th and 5th grade mural is finished! I could not have done it without a few rockstar 5th grade helpers! We learned about the contemporary artist Yinka Shonibare. He has lived all over the world and loves to combine different textiles and patterns. Be sure to swipe through all the photos to see his artwork that was the inspiration for ours!

It’s that time of year again when my dining table turns into a tutorial studio!

Second grade is finishing up self portraits inspired by Jean Dubuffet. We’re learning about continuous contour lines!

Line sculpture has been one of my favorite projects for a while, but we didn’t get to do them last year. Kinder and first created some amazing sculptures this year while learning about the element of Form and Atlanta artist Kevin Cole!

A few parents have asked about an Amazon wish list for the art room, so I’ve added the link below! Our primary need is definitely baby wipes, but I’ve added a few other organization items and books too. 😊

We are SO excited to be back in the art room this year 🙌🏻, but that means lots of tiny hands covered in chalk and paint! 🎨 Baby wipes make clean up easier, faster, and well … cleaner. Any donations of baby wipes to the art room would be very much appreciated!!

Second and third grade is leaning about an art movement called Fauvism. They used so many bright colors and bold brush strokes that one critic called them “les fauves” or “wild animals!”

Fourth and fifth grade is working on a collaborative mural inspired by Yinka Shonibare, a contemporary artist who combines aspects of all the cultures he’s been part of growing up. Students are looking at textiles from all over the world and combining them to make their own patterns! After color, we’ll combine them inside a giant black splatter just like Shonibare.

It’s been a year and a half since we’ve had students in the art room, and it’s good to be back! After chatting about our classroom routines and values, we read Ava and the Rainbow. Then we drew a picture inspired by the illustrations in the story, which included a rainbow of course! 🌈 Be sure to swipe for one student who took her tree up a few notches with a squirrel and a bird!

Just because we couldn’t have Specials Night this year doesn’t mean we won’t show off all of our amazing Teasley artists! Browse through the gallery, share your child’s work on social media, and leave an encouraging “review.”
Support the Teasley Art Program by purchasing a framed artwork!

You don’t need fancy supplies to create amazing art from home! To make sure that everyone can participate, these are the tools I’ll be using with my students in virtual art class. But I know there are some “mini me”s out there that can’t wait to get their hands on more advanced materials! I have posted a list in each art class on CTLS full of suggested extra supplies for little artists. I’ll be giving modifications throughout each lesson - not only for those that may not have all the essential supplies but also for those that have some additional supplies.
