Path To Shine, Inc. Path To Shine®, Inc. is a mentoring and tutoring program for elementary-school children in North and Middle Georgia. or its affiliates.

is a non-profit mentoring program for elementary school children, providing academic & social support to encourage them to thrive and achieve their dreams. Our purpose is to provide academic and social support to encourage children to thrive in school and build self-confidence to achieve their dreams. PTS's success stems from our principles to maintain a ratio of no more than one Mentor to two students, to have a flexible structure that adapts to each local community, and to consistently seek collaboration with other organizations.

Columbus Path to Shine continues to thrive! They have welcomed new students and new mentors to a strong core of returning students and mentors. Each Tuesday, the space is filled with engaged students, enthusiastic learning, meaningful connections, and plenty of encouragement. We’re grateful for the volunteers who make it all possible and proud to see this community continue to grow!

Great day at Canton Path to Shine! The Canton program does a great job at celebrating the birthdays of all their students. 2 mentees were honored with a rousing Happy Birthday song, special cupcakes, and personalized gifts.

Then the group broke up into mentor time. The students go to a no homework school so each mentor utilizes the time to focus on developing their students. Puzzles, math problems, writing a graphic novel, and so much more were in action.

At the end of the day, the students were transported home in the Path to Shine van!

We love getting updates from Path to Shine alums. Jovanni recently shared an update on his progress at Kennesaw State University.

Jovanni said, "Kennesaw State University has been an incredible experience for me. The honors college has supported me financially and developmentally by setting me up for real world challenges and demands. Currently, I am a dual degree student majoring in political science and modern language with the goal of attending law school post graduation."

Path to Shine recently supported Jovanni with funds from Fund the Gap to cover college related expenses and a QuikTrip gift card.

Nurses run in the Path to Shine family.

Jessica said, "I'm currently in my last semester of nursing school. I recently started my practicum at Northside Hospital - Cherokee on the oncology floor. I work night shift with a one on one nurse and help assist with assessments, medication administration, and patient education. In addition to my practicum, I've been applying for hospital positions and I'm preparing for the NCLEX which will be here before I know it. It feels like it was last year that I started my first year of college, it's hard to believe that in a couple of months I will become a UNG alumni!"

Path to Shine alums are doing amazing things! Jessica is in her senior year in the nursing program at Kennesaw State University. She recently shared an update with Path to Shine:

My experience in the nursing program at KSU has been amazing so far. Now that I’m in my senior year, I’ve learned so much about various disease processes and patient care, both in the classroom and during clinicals. I’ve had clinical experiences at Wellstar Paulding, Wellstar Kennestone, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience and had the opportunity to practice my nursing skills. This semester, I’m taking Parent-Child Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Cancer Survivorship, which have all been going well. I’m especially looking forward to starting my obstetrics clinical soon and learning more about women’s health!

The event is Saturday, October 24th at Topgolf at 1600 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd from 9am -12pm.

Norcross Path to Shine has a new Affiliate Director! Please welcome Ann Post! Ann is a retired educator and member of Christ Church Norcross. She is joining a great group of returning volunteers, including Richard. They spent time getting the classroom at Norcross Elementary ready for the students to return this week.

Thanks to Ann for stepping into the role and for joining the Path to Shine family!

Path to Shine Canton honored the program founders Herb and Marilyn Lambert with a special luncheon and plaque. Even at 90+ years of age, Herb and Marilyn are still actively engaged with the program, serving as an inspiration to the other mentors and a source of joy for the students.

Afterward, the mentors had a group meeting to plan the upcoming school year. Lots of great ideas to engage the students!

PTS Canton kicked off last week with a few new students added to the bunch. It's going to be a great year!

At Fayetteville Path to Shine, group time focused on "Dream Big!" and the story of Michael Jordan. Mentor Judy led the group in connecting the lessons in the book to their own lives. The students and mentors took turns reading the pages of the book out loud. The day ended with much needed time on the playground. Swings were popular that day!
