One of the biggest lies many of us were taught is this:
If you’re a good person...
you put everyone else first.
So we become the helper.
The peacemaker.
The dependable one.
The one who always understands.
The one who never asks for too much.
And while everyone else experiences us as generous...
we slowly experience ourselves as invisible.
That’s what makes self-abandonment so difficult to recognize.
It doesn’t feel selfish to keep saying yes.
It feels responsible.
It feels loving.
It feels like the “right thing.”
Until one day...
you realize you’ve become incredibly skilled at caring for everyone except yourself.
Healing isn’t about becoming less compassionate.
It’s about expanding that compassion to include you.
Today I want to leave you with one question:
Have you been a good person to yourself lately?
💛 Trust what feels true.
