Appalachian Center for Craft The Appalachian Center for Craft is a campus of Tennessee Tech. A non-degree Craft Certificate option is also offered.

A campus of Tennessee Tech's nationally accredited School of Art, Craft & Design, the Appalachian Center for Craft promotes excellence in American craft by teaching tradition and innovation in technique, concept and design, providing access to the highest quality craft education, professional artists, and career opportunities. The Center is home to the fine craft studios offering: Bachelor of Fine

Arts degree concentrations in clay, fibers, glass, metals and wood. Artist in Residence Program

The program allows emerging professional craft artists to live and work in the environment of the Craft Center. The Resident Artists provide additional academic support and experience to students in the BFA and Certificate programs. Craft Workshops

More than 50 hands-on craft workshops are offered annually in our craft studios. One-day, weekend and week-long workshops are available for a variety of skill levels. Programs for Teens & Teachers

We provide several educational outreach programs for regional students including Summer High School Art Intensives, Exploring Careers in Fine Craft for High School Students, and more! Special Events

The Craft Center hosts two free open houses each year. The Holiday Celebration and Celebration of Craft are family friendly events that showcase our studios, artists and hands-on activities. Fine Craft Gallery

Our gallery features contemporary and traditional fine craft by Craft Center artists and over 100 nationally recognized craft artists. Exhibitions

We host a vibrant selection of exhibitions annually in multiple exhibition spaces. Shows include the works of regional, national and international contemporary craft artists, our faculty, resident artists, and students.

October 10 daylong workshop: Watercolor Techniques for All with Monica Huff

If you want to learn watercolor basics, or if you are curious about more advanced techniques, this workshop is geared for all levels. This workshop will include instruction on the step-by-step processes necessary for effective watercolor creations. The instructor will introduce students to various techniques and tools while encouraging each student to develop their unique, individual style. Following introductory demonstrations, students will have the option of creating up to three watercolor paintings, depending on the complexity of the subject, with one-on-one guidance. Link in bio!

October 10 workshop: Spike your Bladesmithing Skills with Jason Bivens

Learn basic blacksmithing and bladesmithing skills by making your very own railroad spike knife. Students will learn a combination of basic blacksmithing and bladesmithing skills by learning to build a coal fire and use basic blacksmithing tools to turn a railroad spike into a usable knife. Students will learn how to use different forging techniques and tools to shape their spike into a blade. They will also learn to grind and heat treat their blade into a finished spike knife. Introduction to Stained Glass: Copper Foil Method with Bunny Nunn

Design and create a stained glass artwork from a selection of beginner-friendly patterns. You’ll learn essential techniques including cutting glass, grinding, foiling with copper tape, and soldering to join pieces into a final design. We’ll finish with patina and polishing to help your piece sparkle. Throughout the workshop, you’ll work step-by-step with Bunny's guidance, gaining confidence in tool handling, artistic decision-making, and safe studio practices. All materials and tools are provided, and we’ll cover safety guidelines for working with the various equipment. No experience is needed - just curiosity and enthusiasm! Learn the art of making pottery on the wheel or strengthen your wheel-throwing techniques! This 6-week course will focus on fundamental pottery techniques, from preparing your clay to glazing and decorating.
