The Binomial Cube is more than a beautiful puzzle. In our Early Childhood classroom, this Montessori material invites children to explore patterns, sequencing, concentration, and problem-solving through hands-on discovery. What begins as building a cube lays an early foundation for mathematical thinking that will continue to unfold as they grow.

Flower arranging is more than creating something beautiful. In our Toddler Communities, this Practical Life activity encourages concentration, coordination, independence, and care for the environment. Children take pride in choosing, arranging, and caring for flowers all on their own.

Happy National Dog Day from SMA!

Last week, we officially broke ground on our new Elementary building!

We are so excited for this next chapter at Smithville Montessori Academy. As SMA continues to grow, we are incredibly grateful for the families, staff, and community who continue to support our school and believe in what we are building.

We can’t wait to watch this new space come to life and create even more opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.

The First Great Lesson: The Story of the Universe

Our Elementary students began one of the most exciting parts of the Montessori journey—the First Great Lesson.

Through storytelling, demonstrations, and wonder, students explored the beginning of the universe and the incredible events that eventually led to the world we know today.

The Great Lessons are designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and big questions, opening the door to exploration in science, history, geography, and beyond.

This is Montessori—giving children a bigger picture of their world and inspiring them to want to know more.
