Have you seen the Jungle Journal yet? 🌿
Mrs. Overton’s Journalism students have created a newsletter that will be sent out weekly — the Jungle Journal — that highlights all the amazing things happening at SSHS! Students spend class time, plus before and after school, taking photos and putting each issue together.
Each week’s edition will be posted on ParentSquare, our social media channels, and the school website. Inside you’ll find headlines, student work, and important upcoming dates for academics, athletics, and the arts. 🎓🏀🎭

If you love to play video games, consider joining the Smiths Station High School ESports Team! Open to students in grades 7 through 12 who meet the AHSAA eligibility requirements, this year we will have the opportunity to play Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Super Mario Kart 8, and Madden NFL, competing against other teams from across Alabama for a shot at a state championship. The season begins in September and runs until December, with games on Wednesdays and/or Thursday, depending on which title(s) you play. ATTENTION STUDENTS AND PARENTS!

Due to a major exterior water leak, SSHS will have an E-Learning Day on Monday, August 24. Staff and students will not report to campus. Teachers will post individual class assignments in Google Classroom. We will update you as more information is available.

All students have attended grade-level assemblies reviewing the Student Handbook, Code of Conduct, school expectations, dress code, FOCUS Act (electronic devices), and district-wide final exemption policy.

Please review these guidelines with your student using the links below.

**Beginning Wednesday, August 12, all rules and expectations are in effect. Referrals will be written as needed, and absences toward final exemptions begin August 12.
