Please look for the pick up spot that is closest to your home. Please update the transportation sheet with your child's bus number if it is different that what you indicated when you completed the form.

Every day in kindergarten at LaPerche, students have a phonics lesson. They learn sounds and how letters come together to make sounds and those sounds make words. Words form sentences and stories. Students learned a new skill, the diagraph -ch and how the two sounds come together to make a new sound. They practice words, sentences, and read stories with the new digraph. After the whole group lesson, students move into small group work or independent work to practice the skills. Kindergarten students are becoming readers!

Third graders at LaPerche worked at finding the area of composite shapes by using the length and width of rectangles. Students had access to a grid to use to draw shapes before measuring. They discussed a variety of strategies they could use to find the area within the shape and worked to find unknown side lengths by using parts of other rectangles.

LaPerche preschool friends are excited to be back in school. They started the day with a variety of white bucket centers. One group was building habitats for the forest animals, while another group was figuring how gears could connect to make all pieces move. A third group worked on fine motor skills as they used tweezers to pick up small objects and get them into test tubes and the fourth group was stamping letters into playdough. LaPerche school is an amazing place to learn!

Third graders read Mae Among the Stars, the story of Mae Jenison, the first Black American woman to go to space. They celebrated the historic launch of Artemis II and designed their own mission badges celebrating their future goals. They discussed and included the character traits they would need to achieve these goals. Just like Mae and the astronauts on Artemis II we are reaching for the stars! Third graders at LaPerche dream to be scuba divers, veterinarians, professional gymnasts, teachers, smoke jumpers, scientists, horse jumpers and more. This is a group destined for greatness.

In the art room, third graders were challenged to build their own color wheel. This was not an ordinary color wheel. First, they had to divide the circle into 12 equal parts. Then, they had to label the primary, secondary and tertiary colors. Next, they added a shape and a line to add spaces for a tint and a shade. The students worked at their own pace and supported each other through challenging times. Wait until you see the results at the art show on Thursday, May 14.
