Going back to college isn’t always a straight path, especially when you’re balancing coursework with raising a family.

For JCC student parent Jessica Lescano, returning to the classroom has meant learning to make space for her own goals while continuing to be there for her children.

Now pursuing her Associate of Arts degree with plans to study sociology, Jessica has found purpose in her education and a strong support system through JCC’s BOOST program.

She shares the realities of balancing school and parenthood, what she has learned along the way, and her advice for other parents considering taking that first step.
