Philosophy
Children develop socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually at unique and individual rates. Magical Beginnings Preschool strives to have an individual education plan for each child based on the child's readiness, interests and optimal learning cycle. Through whole group, small group and individual activities, Magical Beginnings encourages children to develop positive learnin
g attitudes and skills which will be the foundation for future school success. My goal is to prepare children to enter the public school system ready to continue learning, so that no child is left behind. Curriculum
Psychologists and educators agree that during the years between birth and 5 years old, children develop, learn, and grow more than they ever will again during any other period of their lives. To capitalize on these vital years, your child's preschool experience will be carefully planned to benefit your child. The Magical Beginnings Preschool program will help develop basic concepts, attitudes, and skills, as well as let your child explore and create. Through individual and small / whole group activities, the curriculum will focus on the subject areas of: Pre-reading, Pre-writing, Science, Social Studies, Math, Art, Music, Social Skills, and Working Skills. The use of quality children's literature and fun themes for each letter of the alphabet, will help to integrate all of the content areas, increasing learning and enthusiasm. There will be some work pages, along with many hands-on-activities, allowing for application of learned skills and knowledge. Monthly newsletters and quarterly progress reports will be sent home to communicate to parents about what is going on and how their child is developing. I have always had a great love for children and a desire to be an educator. I graduated from Utah State University with a degree in early childhood education and an emphasis in math and science. I completed my student teaching in preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. I spent many hours substituting in these same age groups. I was then hired by the Cache School District. I have 8 years of teaching experience in the public school system. I taught a year of kindergarten, art, and summer school at Providence Elementary. Then I transferred and spent 7 years teaching first grade at North Park Elementary. I then chose to be at home with my children and pursue operating a preschool, Magical Beginnings. I have 15+ years of experience operating preschool. I hold a current license and certificate of eligibility from the state to teach Preschool thru Third grade. I have completed my School Readiness Endorsement, an extensive training on kindergarten readiness and the new Pre-K Utah Guidelines for development. I am also a trainer for the Bridgerland CAC (Care About Childcare) at Utah State. I teach quarterly classes to help train other preschool teachers and daycare providers. I also take classes from other trainers to continue my education and better my program. I have a business license from Smithfield City and my business is certified with the State Commerce Department. My students develop excellent social and academic learning skills to aide them in future schooling. I am very excited about teaching preschool and enjoy continuing my talents as an educator of young children.
