We have an update regarding Before School Care. We WILL be able to offer before school care. It will begin at 7:00 am daily. Rates are below:

August and December rates will be a little less because of days of school.
All other months are $99/per student.

There is also a $10 registration one time payment. You can begin registration at Meet the Teacher Night. There will also be a daily drop in fee available, which is $10 per session.

Hi everyone! I’m Ziara Liaschenko, also known as Mrs. Z or Mrs. L. I’m originally from the Hudson Valley area of NY, and my passion for teaching was sparked by my aunt. I’m currently pursuing a teaching degree at Western Governors University and have been substituting in Johnston County, which has really solidified my decision to become a teacher.

Outside of teaching, I’m of Puerto Rican and Ukrainian descent and a proud mom of three. I love baking, music, and traveling. I especially enjoy visiting New York in the fall for apple picking and cider donuts. My favorite color is pink, and I enjoy pizza, arroz con gandules, cookies, and Kit Kats.

I’m excited to continue as a teacher’s assistant for South Smithfield Elementary School and look forward to helping students grow and succeed.

Welcome Ms Davis to the team!

Hi everyone! My name is Kelshonda Davis, and I am thrilled to be joining the South Smithfield Elementary family as a 3rd grade teacher! As I begin my 10th year in education, I look forward to getting to know this amazing school community and making this a wonderful year together.

My goal is to create a classroom where students feel safe to learn, encouraged to be themselves, and excited to grow academically, socially, and emotionally each day.

Outside of the classroom, I’m a proud North Carolina girl who loves a good book, iced coffee, uplifting music, traveling, and discovering new ways to grow and enjoy life.

Hello Dolphin Family! My name is Stacey Phillips and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve in a MTSS position at South Smithfield Elementary. I am coming to you from Corinth Holders Elementary where I have served here and at a middle school in several roles including teacher, interventionist, and instructional coach since 2006. I cannot wait to see the amazing things our students, staff, and community will accomplish in the coming year at SSE!
Personally, I have been married to my husband Brian for 27 years. He is also a middle school teacher and basketball coach for JCPS. We have two sons, Aidan and Connor, who attend college so we are recent empty nesters. We enjoy spending time with family and friends. Outside of school we enjoy traveling. I may have a hard time deciding on dinner, but I can plan a full trip itinerary in about a half hour. We adore our dog Cutch (named after Andrew McCutchen from the Pittsburgh Pirates) who keeps us on our toes.
I am very excited and blessed to join the SSE community. I cannot wait to partner with you on the important MTSS work ahead and see all of the student growth this year.

My name is Logan Parnell and I could not be more excited to join you all this upcoming school year. As a Smithfield native and product of Smithfield area schools, I’m thrilled to be coming home! I bring 8 years of EC resource experience with me and look forward to working with you and your children. In my free time, you can find me with my dog, Mac, spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, or cheering for my alma mater, the UNC Tar Heels! My goal is to create a safe space for your students to learn and grow, while forming a trusting partnership with families. I can’t wait to see you all in August! Fins Up!

We are super excited to meet our NEW Kindergarten students. Please check your email for SIGN UP information for August 10th and pick a time slot that works best for you.

This is a great opportunity to make sure you have everything in line for beginning of year transportation, especially if your student did not ride the bus last year.

🎒 📚 Back-to-school season is here, and we're here to help!

As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, on Monday, July 27th and Tuesday, July 28th, JCPS Information Services, Transportation and Student Services departments will be hosting a Summer Information Fair at three locations: Cleveland High School, Corinth Holders High School - JCPS, and Smithfield-Selma High School.

Families can visit any of these three campuses from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM to complete new enrollment applications, receive status updates on existing enrollment applications, and collect required enrollment documentation. Parents will be able to receive information on how transportation is provided, request transportation if they did not use it the previous year, or discuss any summer address changes that impact transportation. Student Services will also be available to provide student resources.

I am Elizabeth Massengill, a Johnston County native beginning my 12th year as an elementary school teacher. I am thrilled to join the SSE team and bring my experience and passion for education to the classroom.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two daughters, and our two dogs. I am also a big basketball fan and love traveling and exploring new places.
