f (x) Robotics Team #6004
SPONSORSHIP LEVELS

Our Team Mascot is Professor Fox, a human scientist whose “classified” experiment turned himself into a fox. Our team is known to be quick and clever “like a fox”!

“Our team members are proud of their North-Carolinian roots. Many of our students are planning on going to school and work in the North Carolina STEM-based businesses. Thus, money invested by North-Carolinian businesses will go straight into their education, and then back into our businesses, infrastructure and economy. Our students are eager to learn and work, and appreciate all help given to them. Nothing goes to waste, as it is all used to help prepare members for their future careers and for FRC competitions.” (Student Mary Mullins)

LEVEL 1 “Professor Fox’s Entourage” ($10,000 and up*)
At this level, a sponsor will have its own banner displayed at competition and be able to advertise on the team website via a promotional video. Its company logo and name will be prominently displayed on the competition robot, team trailer, competition shirts, team website, and all team correspondence. We are seeking your support for SSS Robotics at Smithfield-Selma Senior High School in Johnston County, NC. We are a group of students who are dedicated to promoting and participating in STEM education for ourselves and our local community. In addition to learning programming and engineering, we also teach these skills to younger students at the middle and elementary school level through mentoring FLL (First Lego League) teams and summer robotics camps. A commitment to community outreach in North Carolina is an important part of our mission. Our robotics club also supports a competition team (FRC Team 6004) which represents Johnston County in competitions across the state.

SSS Robotics started in 2016 and has already grown from seven members to over fifty. We anticipate an even larger growth in the coming years. Our team is made up of a diverse group of students from around the county. We have also had an increase in the number of females, not only as team members, but also as mentors and coaches. With rapid growth and increasing community outreach, it can be difficult to maintain enough financial support. There are significant costs for both the competition events and our robot as well as costs for tools, safety supplies, transportation and team merchandise. Most of our funds come from local businesses, but we are outgrowing the support they can offer. With the hopeful expectation of competing on the State and World level, our annual operating budget runs around $50,000. A detailed budget is available on request.

We are asking for your help. In return for monetary support, we offer many sponsor benefits such as advertising on the competition robot, team shirts and website. These benefits are based on sponsorship levels associated with the amount donated. Donations of parts, discounts and mentor volunteering is also highly appreciated. We are a nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax deductible.

Any support offered to SSS Robotics will help enrich our ability to teach students about opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and prepare us to be leaders in these fields. It has been shown that students who participate in robotics go on to be successful adults, not only in STEM fields but also in marketing, finance, and management. SSS Robotics strives to mentor students in each of these areas. Your contribution to our organization will touch many lives for years to come and is truly an investment in your future. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

SSS Robotics Booster Club

FRC 2017 Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School

What is FIRST? FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1992 by Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway. The mission of FIRST is to inspire local students to be science & technology leaders by engaging them in mentor-based programs that build business, public speaking, coaching, & communication skills. We are looking to provide these students the necessary skills to become the next leaders in our community & beyond.

What is FRC? FRC stands for FIRST Robotics Competition. FRC is designed for high school student teams who want to compete head-to-head on a special playing field with robots they have designed, built, and programmed within a six week period. During the competitions teams compete in an alliance format against other teams.

Who is FRC Team #6004 F(X) Robotics? We are a diverse group of like-minded students who are striving to educate ourselves in the STEM fields. We’ve come from a small team of seven (with little experience) to now having over fifty members in our third season. Johnston County is a rural community and over 15% of its people live below the poverty line. Our robotics team represents all of Johnston County because many of our students come across the county to attend our county’s only International Baccalaureate Academic Honors Program here at Smithfield Selma High School in North Carolina. We are supported by local governments but they also have limited funding. We cannot continue without the support of generous companies like yours.

From Our Students…
“You learn things here that you would never learn in a classroom environment such as the basics of engineering. Robotics will help me as I pursue my career in the marine corps.” (D.J. Brooks)

“It is easier for me to learn by participating in robotics than just listening to a teacher in the classroom.” (Kaylee Myer)

“My experience as President of the Robotics Team has taught me leadership & communication skills which will help me with my future studies in forensic science.” (Leigh Dement)
