Yesterday, the Johnston County School Health Advisory Council and Collaborative for Families, Youth & Children had the pleasure of hearing from Innovation Academy students Abner, John, Destiny, Allie, Lauren, and Erving. 🎓

The students presented on how Innovation Academy's Student Government Association, Theater Club, and Beta Club promote student health, wellness, and engagement across their school community.

Thank you to School Counselor Guile Contreras and all of the school’s educators for their guidance and dedication to these student leaders! ✨

That’s right: No essays. No test scores. No letters of recommendation. 🙌

Kindness Grows Here's Kid Kindness Grant applications are now OPEN! 🤗 If you have a child or know a child in Kindergarten-12th grade who has an idea for spreading kindness in their community, please encourage them to apply for funding! Individuals may apply for up to $250, small groups (2-4 kids) may apply for up to $500, and large groups (5+ kids) may apply for up to $800. Applications are due November 1.

The JCPS Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship program is a collaboration between Johnston County Public Schools, local public power utilities (Benson, Clayton, Selma, Smithfield), ElectriCities of NC, JCI, and ApprenticeshipNC. 💡

Program Highlights & Benefits:
• Pre-Apprenticeship credit from ApprenticeshipNC & certifications in OSHA 10, First Aid, and CPR
• Learn directly from industry expert instructors
• Opportunity to interview for a funded summer 2027 utility internship
