We have been having a blast in summer camp!

We’ve been to the movie theater, library storytime, on a treasure hunt to find the pirate loot before they did 🏴‍☠️, swam with 🧜🏻‍♀️ mermaids, rocketed to space🪐 and so much more!! 🏖️

There are still a few spots here and there!
If you’re local to Smithfield, Clayton, Four Oaks or anywhere nearby, check us out!

Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is currently underway for children ages 2-5. If space allows, we will accept registration for children as young as 18 months.

Summer camp registration is available for current families until March 20th and then opens to the public for children ages 18m/2 years - elementary age students. If you’re not sure if your child meets the age requirements, feel free to contact the director, as it will depend upon enrollment and interest. We would love to add an elementary program for the summer.

Younger children must be able to walk independently from location to location (classroom to playground, drinking from a cup and meet other requirements) upon enrollment.

Down in the Pre-K room, we enjoyed our special Bear Day! After everyone had a chance to introduce their bears, it was time to measure, examine, discover and use our describing words to tell others just who these cuddly bears were. We learned more about hibernation and each student even drew their own pictures for our chart. All of our bears had a chance to visit “Hibernation Station” for a rest when they got sleepy. 🐻💤

Our class worked hard today, as they were tasked with matching the entire alphabet by finding corresponding letter stamps, highlighting the letter Hh, counting numbers and working together to solve problems.

I am finalizing next year’s class offerings and we should have 2023-2024 Registration Forms ready for you to preview soon. We are so grateful for all of your support this year and are eager for you to see what we have in store.
The Lord is so very faithful.

Good evening friends,

We have spaces available in our Pre-K class for children that were 4 or 5 years of age as of August 31, 2022.

One of our dear students moved out of state, and our class would love some more classmates to expand discussions and make playtime more interesting.

If you know anyone that may be interested in joining us for the remainder of the year, please let us know.

This class is a perfect way for children to get Kindergarten ready! Our Pre-K program strengthens academic skills, focusing on letter sounds and recognition while developing a child’s skills in language and vocabulary. Children are given many opportunities to develop skills in all areas including math, language arts, science, history and art through interaction and collaboration with others. These are some of the areas that they will continue to develop as they step into kindergarten next year. In addition, children are able to explore the world around them through play, garnering strengthened imagination, independence and social-emotional skill development.

When you send your child to Pre-K, they will gain confidence necessary to best utilize their skills both in and out of the classroom while preparing them for academic success. As a former Kindergarten teacher, I can tell you that while many parents want to know about all of the academics, some of the most important skills your child will learn in Pre-K are how to put on their own jacket and zip it up, how to carry their folder without dropping all of its contents and the everyday tasks that K teachers just don’t have the chance to monitor, in a classroom filled with 20 kids. Let us get them started on the right (or left!) foot.

Plus, I hear the teachers are pretty awesome! 💁🏻‍♀️👱🏼

Contact me today to see what your child could be learning each day, and if you have been to Centenary United Methodist Church Mother’s Morning Out and Preschool in the past, come see what’s new. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

We completed our first week of back to school! We are so grateful to all of our families for their support and love.

Our classes learned all about routines, sharing, expectations and the love of Jesus. In Pre-K, we learned how, much like in the book “No, David”, Jesus has his arms outstretched wide saying “Yes, I love you” even when we sometimes make the wrong choices.

Help your child make better choices by focusing on the good. Instead of “no running”, try “use walking feet”. Positive reinforcement is SO important for developing brains and can make such a difference.
