And just like that… our very first day at HLA! There were new friendships made, big smiles, new shoes, lots of laughter and so much fun! Most importantly there was prayer, worship and time in chapel together. Yesterday was more than just the first day of school for our Mariners, it was the beginning of something truly special! A day filled with memories we will treasure forever! 💙💙💙

Last night was truly a night to remember! From our Ribbon Cutting to our Back to School night festivities, our hearts overflowed with gratitude! 💙 Last night we celebrated not just the opening of a school but the beginning of a God-sized journey to light the way and cultivate growth in the hearts and minds of our students. And tomorrow is the moment we have been waiting for! Tomorrow, we officially set sail! 💙⚓️🙏

We have created an HLA Staff Wish List with some classroom goodies, learning tools, STEM needs, office supplies, and fun learning games that we would LOVE to have for our little Mariners! 💙⚓️ Every little gift makes a BIG difference and we have certainly been blessed by our community!

We are so excited to welcome Elizabeth Kelly to our HLA family as a second grade teacher! Ms. Kelly has a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Radford University. Elizabeth brings a wonderful combination of classroom experience, early intervention training, and a genuine passion for helping children learn and grow.

Her experience includes teaching pre-K, working with children from infancy through elementary school, providing tutoring support, and completing internships in both elementary education and early intervention. She is also Early Interventionist Certified.

We are especially grateful for her heart for meeting children where they are and helping each child develop academically, socially, and emotionally. We know she will be a wonderful addition to our HLA community!
