Ready to become a Paramedic? Johnston Community College's Initial Paramedic Program is designed to prepare you for a rewarding career delivering advanced pre-hospital emergency care.

Throughout the program, you'll gain hands-on experience and advanced training in:

🗓️ Flexible Schedule: Classes meet Tuesdays or Wednesdays (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) with approximately one weekend per month—designed to fit the schedules of working EMS professionals.

🚑 Become an American Heart Association BLS Instructor! ❤️

Take the next step in your healthcare or public safety career by becoming a certified Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor. This course prepares instructor candidates to confidently teach AHA BLS courses using the latest educational materials and hands-on teaching techniques.

A strong understanding of anatomy and physiology is essential for success in EMS—and we're here to help you get there!

EMS 2163: Basic Anatomy & Physiology is a 100% online course designed to provide the knowledge you need while meeting North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) requirements. Study the structure and function of the human body, homeostasis, body systems, cells, tissues, nutrition, acid-base balance, and electrolytes—all in a flexible online format.

Whether you're preparing for leadership roles on emergency incidents or advancing your Incident Command System knowledge, Johnston Community College is offering ICS 300 and ICS 400 this September.

ICS 300: Intermediate Incident Command System

Designed for emergency response personnel who will serve in Incident Command or General Staff positions during large, complex incidents. This course is also ideal for those interested in serving on a local or regional Incident Management Team (IMT).

ICS 400: Advanced Incident Command System

Take your ICS training to the next level by learning to function within Area Command, Emergency Operations Centers (EOC), and Multiagency Coordination Systems (MACS) during large-scale incidents.

💲 Course Fee Waivers Available

🚑 Become a Mental Health Resilience Officer (MHRO)! 🧠💙

Mental health is just as important as physical health—especially for those who serve on the front lines. Join Johnston Community College for the NAEMT Mental Health Resilience Officer (MHRO) course and gain the knowledge and skills to support the mental wellness of your fellow responders.

As an MHRO, you'll learn how to:

👥 Who Can Attend?
This course is open to all members of Public Safety.
Law Enforcement Officers must provide an affiliation letter stating the course is necessary for their job.

Recommended Prerequisites:
✔ EMT credential or higher
✔ At least 3 years of EMS experience
✔ Strong interpersonal communication skills
✔ Previous experience with Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) recommended

💳 Credential Fee: $15 (paid in class)
