🏆 Northern Potter Jr. Sr. High School is Number One! 🏆

Last Friday, August 21, the 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students and staff of Northern Potter gathered in the Darlene J. Sitler Auditorium for a very special awards ceremony celebrating their first-place finish in the Spring 2026 IU9 Love Math Challenge with First In Math! 🥇🎉

During this challenge, students across Seneca Highlands Intermediate Unit 9 (IU9) solved an incredible 676,920 math problems. Northern Potter's students led the entire region, solving an amazing 114,543 problems! 🧮💪

The highlight of the ceremony was the official unveiling of Northern Potter’s championship banner, recognizing the students' hard work, effort, and dedication.

Thank you to Mr. Nathan Jone (Superintendent of Schools), Mrs. Sherri Blackwell (Middle and High School Principal), Jenny from First In Math, Senator Cris Dush's office, and Representative Martin Causer's office for supporting our students and celebrating this fantastic achievement!

On Saturday, May 16th, Hamlin Lake Park became a hub of laughter and learning as Seneca Highlands IU-9, through its grant with 21st Century CCLC, hosted a memorable end-of-year celebration.

The event welcomed 47 children for a perfect blend of festive fun and hands-on activities to wrap up the school year.

Event Highlights
The celebration kept young minds engaged and hands busy with a variety of interactive stations and classic summer treats:

Touch a Truck: Kids got an exciting, up-close look at impressive vehicles and learned about the important roles they play in the community.

Chromatography Bandanas: Blending science with art, children used the colorful process of chromatography to design their own custom, personalized bandanas.

"Fish in a Bag of Slime": A massive crowd-pleaser, this sensory science station let kids mix up their own gooey creations complete with a toy fish.

Festive Treats: No celebration is complete without snacks! Children enjoyed fresh popcorn and sweet cotton candy throughout the day.

Summer Giveaways: To keep the fun going, every child took home a summer-themed goodie bag and a beach ball.

A Successful Partnership
The collaboration between Seneca Highlands IU-9 and the 21st Century CCLC highlights a shared commitment to bringing enriching, joyful experiences to local youth. Thanks to these creative STEM activities and fun giveaways, 47 area children headed home with bright smiles and plenty of treasures to kick off the summer.
