Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Region IX Meeting Annual PJAS Region IX Meeting at Slippery Rock University. February 21, 2025 "First Place" winners earn the right to compete at the state competition in May. Mrs.

"The Region IX Meeting of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science at Slippery Rock University. 17th consecutive year on February 22, 2014. 500 students, grades 7-12, present the results of their science research projects. All judges attend a complimentary luncheon and judges' meeting (11AM) to discuss the criteria and scoring in Weisenfluh Dining Hall. Students meet at the Smith Center Ballroo

m at 1245 pm, then disperse to campus classrooms to give their presentations. Dinner is at Boozel Dining Hall anytime after 4 pm, then students convene again at 615 pm at the Smith Center Ballroom for the Awards Ceremony. Dr. William R. Sigmund, Professor of Biology at Slippery Rock University, is the University Coordinator. Leah Ann Williams and Mr. Robert Penrose are Co-Directors of Region IX of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science.

The 2026 PJAS Region IX Meeting was held at Slippery Rock University on Saturday February 21, 2026. Congratulations to the outstanding students grades 7-12 who presented the results of their science investigations to a panel of judges. Many special awards, including more than twenty $100. cash awards, were presented at the Awards Ceremony at the Smith Student Center!

Grade 11 – Cydney Devereaux – Ecology project from Lakeview, “A Clear Stream of Reason” (Cyndney also won the SRU $100 senior high biology award.)
