Vale's Walk in the Woods Challenge As a child I grew up in Central NY and loved when my family went on walks in the woods. In 2019 I was diagnosed with a rare tumor.

☆ Challenge: spend at least 1 day a week in the woods in September and October ☆ I always found myself being drawn to the woods and the natural beauty of the Adirondacks and Catskills in NYS. As a mother I brought my children to the woods often and watched them enjoy all that mother nature had to

offer. I found myself being challenged mentally, physically, and spiritually. What I noticed was, when I took a long drive to the mountains or walked in the woods I felt grounded, my worries tended to fade and happiness and contentment worked their way through me. I made it a personal goal to take time each fall season to walk in the woods. From September to October I would specifically take time by myself or with my family each week to spend in the woods. I am not a mountain hiker or athletic by any means. However, I knew I could take time from my crazy busy life to do this. The more I did the better I felt mentally, physically, and spiritually.
