Next Avenue Community Conversations
Like Sesame Street is for Kids, Next Avenue is for Grown Ups
Next Avenue is a new national public media website launched by PBS stations across America and developed by Twin Cities Public Television. MPTV is a Next Avenue affiliate. People may access the website through mptv.org. It is targeting people who are starting to th

ink about or who are living what is called “adult part 2”—a new life stage being largely defined by the boomer populations. As Sesame Street is for kids, Next Avenue is for adults. Although it is primarily a national website, it is also a means to convene viewers in that age group at various venues throughout our MPTV area and engage them in “Community Conversations” related to the topic areas featured on the website:
Health and Well-being
Money and Security
Work and Purpose
Living and Learning
Caregiving

Next Avenue Community Conversations are free and open to anyone wanting to learn more about a particular topic offered. Conversations are held approximately every other month at various locations within the 11 county viewing areas of MPTV. Local and national experts provided interesting and important information that is both useful and beneficial. Conversations are approximately one hour in length with time allotted for questions and answers. These ‘conversations’ are produced live, streaming live on mptv.org, and also taped to be shown on MPTV at a later date.
