🎉 TIME FOR A CELEBRATION! 🎉

We are kicking off our Student Spotlight with a big shoutout to Bridget Steele! 🧡💙

Mrs. Peck recognized Bridget for going out of her way to be a great student and an even better pal! When a classmate was absent, Bridget stepped in to help get their interactive journal set up and ready for class. Not only did she help a fellow Greyhound, but she also saved Mrs. Peck from having to tackle the setup during class time! 👏📚

That’s what being a Greyhound is all about—looking out for one another, lending a helping hand, and keeping your fellow Greyhounds on track! 🐾

🎶🐾 A Greyhound Shoutout to Ms. Amy Jezek! 🧡💙

Our very own elementary music teacher, Amy Jezek, is always finding ways to make a difference! She generously supplied umbrellas for the tables that Greenwood Fall Festival provided at our elementary campus, giving our Greyhounds a little extra shade while they enjoy these outdoor spaces. ☀️

We are so thankful for teachers who go above and beyond, both inside and outside the classroom! Thank you, Amy, for taking care of our Greyhounds! 🐾🎶

Just look at those smiling faces and sweet hugs as they greeted her yesterday morning! 🥹 We’re so glad to have Deputy Sherman back around campus and loving on our Greyhounds! 💙

🎉 WE ARE AT A B — AND WE EARNED A DISTINCTION! 🎉

Our 2026 Accountability Rating was made public on August 14, and we couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this incredible achievement! 🧡💙

Over the past few years, our ratings have been:

📊 2023 — 76 (C)
📊 2024 — 79 (C)
📊 2025 — 79 (C)
➡️ 2026 — 82 (B)! 🎉

And there’s even more to celebrate! Slidell ISD was also awarded the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction by the Texas Education Agency (TEA)! 🎓🐾

So, what does that mean?

To qualify for a distinction, campuses must first earn an overall accountability rating of A, B, or C. From there, performance is compared to a peer group of 40 similar campuses, based on school type, size, and student demographics. To earn the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction, at least 33% of applicable postsecondary indicators must rank in the top quartile (Q1) of that comparison group.

Our Greyhounds got it done! 🐾🎓

Moving from a C to a B, while also earning a Postsecondary Readiness Distinction, is a tremendous accomplishment and a true testament to the dedication and hard work happening across Slidell ISD every single day.

This B and this distinction belong to ALL of us! 🧡💙
