We are almost there! School starts this Thursday, August 20th!

Our classrooms are just about ready, our staff is excited, and we cannot wait to welcome our students back for another great year in Hampshire County Schools!

The classrooms were already full of learners this week... just not the ones who usually sit in the seats!

Across Hampshire County Schools, our teachers and staff have been back in our schools learning, collaborating, preparing, and getting ready to welcome students back next week.

These pictures from across our county are a great reminder that learning never stops in public schools. Before our students walk through the doors, our educators are working to learn something new, sharpen their skills, share ideas, and make sure they are ready to give our students the very best start to the school year.

Next week, the seats will be filled with students. This week, they were filled with the people preparing to teach, support, encourage, and inspire them.

This is what public education looks like. It is people learning together, working together, and showing up for kids and their community.

Hampshire County Board of Education is currently transitioning to a new telephone service provider.

Beginning July 29, 2026, through August 4, 2026, our telephone system may be intermittently unavailable as technicians complete the installation and transition process. During this time, you may experience difficulty reaching schools or the Board of Education by phone.

If you have a Bachelor's Degree, you may qualify to teach full-time as a long-term substitute. If you have an Associate's Degree, you may also qualify to become a daily substitute teacher.

Dear Ice Mountain Elementary Staff, Students, and Community Members,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to announce my resignation as Principal of Ice Mountain Elementary. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, but a pressing family illness requires my attention at home. Because I will be unable to devote the necessary time to the school during this period, I do not feel I would be providing everything our students truly deserve. The role of principal requires full, undivided energy, and our children should never receive anything less than absolute commitment. It has been an absolute privilege to serve the students, families, and dedicated staff in Slanesville. I am immensely proud of what we have built together here at Ice Mountain Elementary. Please know that I am working closely with Hampshire County Schools to ensure a smooth administrative transition. The education and well-being of our students remain the top priority. Thank you for the unwavering support you have shown me during my time as principal. You have a very special community here, and I wish Ice Mountain Elementary and its students nothing but the absolute best in the years to come.

The countdown to summer is almost over!

Thursday, May 28, 2026 will be the last day of school for Hampshire County Schools AND students will be dismissed on a 3-hour early release schedule.

We hope all of our students, staff, and families have a safe, relaxing, and fun summer break.
