Skykomish School District No. 404 This is the official page of the Skykomish School District No. 404, offering up-to-date information and news to our Rockets around the world.

Skykomish School District is located at the western slope of the Cascade Mountains in the northeastern corner of King County. It encompasses approximately 379 square miles with forests covering much of this area. The town of Skykomish is approximately 70 miles east of Seattle and 70 miles west of Wenatchee on Highway 2. It is a small community with about 350 people living within the area. The clim

ate is moderate, however it is not uncommon to have snow from December through February. Major employers in the area are the school district, BNSF Railway, Stevens Pass Ski Area, US Forest Service, Washington State D.O.T., and King County Public Works. The town includes a church, public library, motel, restaurants, service station and other small businesses. Wonderful recreational opportunities abound such a skiing, hiking, camping and fishing. The Stevens Pass Ski area is a short fifteen-minute drive east of town. Service clubs and organizations include: Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, Historical Society as well as an active parent-teacher-student organization (PTSO). Skykomish School District is a small, rural K-12 school which serves the town of Skykomish as well as the local communities of Timberlane, Mill Town, Grotto, Baring, and Index. The student population of Skykomish School District is 43 FTE in grades K-12. The district employs a Superintendent/Principal, a business manager, 11 FTE certificated staff and 9 FTE classified staff. The district’s annual operating budget is approximately $2.4 million. The State of Washington accredits the district. Students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular opportunities including volleyball, basketball and cheer leading. The District has partnership agreements with the Sno-Isle Skills Center and offers Running Start through Everett Community College. The District offers dual credit classes in conjunction with Everett Community College. The District also has a dynamic CTE Program; offering Microsoft certification classes, Creative Coding and a Culinary Arts class. We welcome any and all visitors, and hope that you and your family might find our community and school to be an attractive alternative to the hustle and bustle of life “down below.”
