ICJA Ida Crown Jewish Academy is a co-educational Modern Orthodox Jewish high school, which prepares students to thrive in both Judaic and general studies.

We encourage students to develop leadership, chesed, and to live a Torah-true life. ICJA students are as diverse as they are numerous. Their shared commitment to growth, reinforced by a staff that supports each student as an individual, is what unites them. Welcome to our new Tanach teacher, Yehudit Gavant ’02! Mrs. Gavant is already part of the ICJA family as a parent, and we’re thrilled that she is now joining our faculty as well. A proud Stern College alumna who majored in Judaic Studies and has taught in schools in Chicago and Baltimore, Yehudit brings a deep love of Torah and learning to her new role. “I’m really looking forward to building relationships with students. I have fond memories of when I was a student here.” Mrs. Gavant lives in Skokie with her family and enjoys reading, walking, Pilates, and learning. We look forward to the learning, connection, and inspiration you’ll bring to our students.

Welcome ICJA’s New Biology Teacher: Dr. Zoe Hoeppner!
From Oklahoma to Paris to Chicago, Dr. Zoe Hoeppner brings an incredible mix of science, research, teaching and adventure to ICJA!
An Oklahoma native, Dr. Hoeppner earned her PhD in Pharmacology, researching immune cell function and immunology. Dr. Hoeppner spent 7 years as a professor at Northwestern University and previously worked for a French pharmaceutical company while living in Paris.
Outside the classroom, you can find Dr. Hoeppner at the Morton Arboretum, where she is a citizen scientist and conservationist studying trees, or on the water sailing and paddleboarding. 🌳⛵ She now lives in Evanston with her husband, Nick, and their family.
At ICJA, Dr. Hoeppner will teach freshman Biology, as well as The Science of Medicine for seniors in the fall and Chemistry of Everyday Life in the spring.
