2020 changed policing forever.

Three incidents made it clear to me that the profession wasn’t just under attack—it was also failing to prepare officers for the realities of violent encounters.

• April 2020 – Chicago Red Line shooting
• May 2020 – George Floyd incident
• June 2020 – Rayshard Brooks incident

Those three events pushed me to stop complaining about the problem and start being part of the solution.

In August 2020, Rectitude Training, LLC was born.

The mission has never changed: provide reality-based training rooted in pressure testing, combat sports, and evidence—not politics, optics, or tradition.

If we’re serious about protecting the public and officers alike, then we have to train for reality, not for appearances.

- Appears to be an attempted robbery
- Notice how the security guard is flat in his back with his legs crossed. He may be unconscious or concussed but does move his arms.
- BG appears to use an arm bar to disarm the security guard but luckily there was a third party there to assist.
- Being an “armed professional” takes a certain amount of skill and ability and most cannot see that decline as we age.
