Wedding Bells at Rock Brook!
Love is in the air! This past weekend, two of our beloved Rock Brook staff members, Mr. Chris (School Counselor) and Miss Denise (Teaching Assistant), tied the knot!

We couldn't be happier for this wonderful couple and wish them a lifetime of love, laughter, and happiness!

Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs. Cruz!

One of our HS2 students is beginning her Work-Based Learning journey with a very important new job- helping keep Rock Brook stocked and running!

Our Personal Shopper checks in with members of the school leadership team, our nurse, and office manager to find out what supplies are needed. She records the requests on her shopping chart, creates a list, keeps track of the budget, and then heads out into the community to stores like Walmart to make the purchases. When she returns, she delivers each item to the person who requested it!

From communication and organization to budgeting, shopping, and delivery, she’s practicing real-world employment skills from start to finish.

Learning on the Go!
Rock Brook’s Post-Grad students visited the Somerville Train Station for some hands-on travel training! Students practiced important community safety skills, including where to safely stand while waiting for a train, staying aware of their surroundings, and being mindful of strangers.

Real-world experiences like these help our students build the skills and confidence they need for greater independence!

Rock Brook School came together to honor September 11, Patriot Day, and reflect on the values of bravery, courage, kindness, and community.

Students gathered by the flagpole to raise the American flag and participate in the Pledge of Allegiance. They reflected on the meaning of the day, and each student proudly placed a mini American flag in the ground in front of the school.

Our students were reminded that one of the best ways we can honor those who serve and help our communities is by being kind, helping one another, showing respect, and making someone’s day.

Make someone’s day. A simple act of kindness can make a difference.

Travel Training in Action at Rock Brook!

Our Post Grad students kicked off a three-part NJ TRANSIT Travel Training series, thoughtfully arranged by Transition Coordinator Monica Wall and led by NJ TRANSIT’s Senior Safety Education Program & Community Outreach Specialist.

This week’s focus was railroad safety and confident, independent travel. Students learned to recognize railroad signs, safely navigate train platforms and the gap, keep track of their belongings, seek help from a conductor, and respond appropriately to challenging situations they may encounter while traveling in the community.

These hands-on experiences build upon Rock Brook’s ongoing Travel Training Program, helping our Post Grad students develop the safety, confidence, self-advocacy, and independence they need to navigate their communities. High School students also receive their own Travel Training opportunities separate from this Post Grad series.

We can’t wait for Part 2!

The Philly Phanatic stopped by Rambling Pines today to hang with everyone. He seems to have Ms. Eliana in quite a "Phanatic" hug. Mr. Glenn was highly disappointed that he was not at camp today.

This summer, our students are enjoying Therapy Thursday, a unique school-based therapeutic camp led by Occupational Therapists Lauren Cornejo and Dorrie Myers.

Each week features an exciting new theme, including Circus Carnival, Pirate Adventure, Ocean Day, Science Superheroes, and Sounds of Summer, designed to make learning engaging, meaningful, and fun. Each week, students participate in a cooking activity, hands-on sensory experiences, and engage in movement activities, all following the theme for the week!
