Kindergarten read the book, Not a Box. After they read, they practiced writing and then they got to create their own "not a box" creation. How fun to hear a story and develop their own ideas based on the story!

Once a year we celebrate who the staff has chosen as Teacher of the Year and Support Employee of the Year. To be nominated and chosen by your peers is an amazing honor. This year we celebrate Allison Bates as SEOY and Dr. Hayley Hoover Rowland as TOY. Dr Rowland was also chosen as a district finalist. We are so proud of these wonderful individuals who represent the best of SME.

Writing is such an essential part of the learning process. From Kindergarten to Fifth grade, our students practice writing for different purposes daily. It could be journaling, responding to questions or creating their own story to share. We love seeing the hard work!

Appreciation post to our resident fun maker, Ms. Kela! She didn't want anyone left out on the fun of Hawaiian Day. She made sure everyone who needed one was decked out with a lei of their very own! Thanks for always loving our students Kela!
