This week's shout out goes to Rachel Sorokin, one of our dedicated Special Education teachers at Keet Goshi Heen! Rachel brings 15 years of experience in education, including teaching Kindergarten, Special Education, and English. Her passion is helping students feel valued, supported, and successful. Rachel loves celebrating student growth each day and working alongside the caring staff at KGH. Outside of school, she enjoys cycling in new places, spending time with family, and exploring the great outdoors. We are so fortunate to have Rachel as part of the Keet Goshi Heen family. Thank you, Rachel, for the care, experience, and dedication you bring to our students and school community every day!

Thank You, SHS Wood Shop Students!
The 5th graders would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Sitka High School wood shop students who built the beautiful frames for our copper tooling project. Their craftsmanship and generosity will help showcase our students' hard work and creativity in a special way. Mrs. Reid's class is pictured with some of the SHS students and frames. We are grateful for this wonderful collaboration between SHS and our elementary students!

Kéet Gooshí Héen's annual Believe Fundraiser starts TOMORROW! Woohoo! 🎉 Please watch for your student's fundraiser envelope & supplies, which will be sent home tomorrow. Students have from September 11th through October 8th to help our classrooms raise funds for important supplies, field trips, art supplies, books, snacks, and so much more! Students can sell in-person and/or online with a personalized shopping link! Students will have a chance to earn a variety of fun incentives for their hard work, too! 🥳 Thank you in advance for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school!

We are excited to recognize Jayson as our KGH “Spout Out”! Jayson has been a paraeducator for five years and is being celebrated for consistently going above and beyond for our students and staff. He is an incredible team player whose flexibility, positive attitude, and willingness to jump in and help wherever needed make a difference at KGH every day.

One of Jayson’s favorite parts of his work is seeing students grow in their ability to make friends and show compassion for others. Most importantly, he hopes the students and staff he works with know that they are cared for. Jayson brings an open mind and an open heart to KGH, and that kindness is evident in the relationships he builds throughout our school.

Outside of school, you might be surprised to learn that Jayson is a good dancer! And one of his own favorite childhood school memories is taking an Allen Marine boat trip for science class in sixth grade—a great reminder of the lasting impact that special school experiences can have.

Thank you, Jayson, for your kindness, flexibility, teamwork, and commitment to our KGH students and staff. We are so lucky to have you as part of our KGH family!
