UAS Sitka is a public university that is a leader in effective, nurturing local and distance classes. We offer local academic classes for high school students seeking dual credit, traditional students, adult learners, military students, and continuing education learners. Our students enjoy free tutoring, test placement services, and academic advising to help them choose educational pathways that lead to jobs. Our major degree programs include Health Sciences including Nursing, Health Information Technology, Fisheries Technology, Law Enforcement, and the Associate of Arts, a general education degree that can serve as a foundation for a wide variety of paths.

The incredible "Jumping Into A New Day" mural by UAS ceramics student Lenise Henderson and UAS Sitka Professor of Art Elizabeth Zacher was installed last week above the main entrance to UAS Sitka!

This stunning mosaic took more than six months to complete and was a collaborative effort between the ceramics and welding programs.

Welding faculty member Keith Anderson specially engineered the installation of the mosaic, which weighs several hundred pounds. Student artist Lenise Henderson is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring this project to life and was over the moon to see it installed - and so are we!

We invite you to stop by UAS Sitka to admire this beautiful work of art, which now welcomes students, employees, and visitors to our campus.

The hand built and glazed clay tiles capture the explosive energy of a humpback whale breaching at first light, mirroring the student journey. Just as the whale breaks the ocean's surface to meet the morning sun, education empowers us to break through barriers and leap boldly into a lifetime of learning and new beginnings.

Congratulations to our 2026 UAS Sitka Campus Staff Excellence Award recipient, Christine Galiza!

Christine is one of the most dedicated and hardworking employees at UAS Sitka. She is always eager to help, get involved, and learn new ways to better serve our campus community. Her contributions are felt across campus through her service on numerous committees, her support of campus events, and her willingness to take on new responsibilities and grow professionally.

🤿🪼Alaska Dive Semester Highlights🐚🐙

Over the course of the Alaska Dive Semester, students learn everything from basic dive skills, underwater rescue, underwater data collection techniques, and become familiar with local fish, algae, and invertebrate species. Students also participate in new and ongoing marine-related research projects, develop skills in basic skiff training and small engine maintenance, critical to underwater field work.

This program offers you the ability opportunity to earn certifications as Open Water Divers, Dry Suit Divers, Advanced Open Water Divers, Rescue Divers, Research Divers, NITROX Divers, AAUS Scientific Divers, and DAN 1st Aid/CPR and O2 Providers along with gaining experience in cold-water research and fieldwork.

All footage was taken by our students from the 2026 Spring UAS Dive Semester program. Interest form for Spring 2027 is in our bio!

The UAS Sitka Campus is offering several classes this summer, and the 2-credit tuition waiver application is now open! Most summer classes begin on May 18th, but please note that the condensed 4-week summer welding course starts next Monday, May 11th.
