🚨 TCMS Fall Field Trip Updates 🚨

Please review the information below for your student’s grade level.

6TH GRADE — BLENNERHASSETT ISLAND
• Trip date: Thursday, October 29
• Permission forms were sent home today, Monday, October 19.
• Forms are DUE this Friday, October 23.

7TH GRADE — MOUNDSVILLE PENITENTIARY & GRAVE CREEK MOUND
• Trip date: Tuesday, October 27
• Permission forms were sent home today, Monday, October 19.
• Forms are DUE this Friday, October 23.

8TH GRADE — CHALLENGER CENTER AT WHEELING UNIVERSITY
Students will attend in three groups this week:
• Group A — Tuesday, October 20: Mrs. Doig’s and Mrs. Deaton’s advisory classes.
• Group B — Wednesday, October 21: Mrs. Watts’s and Ms. McGinnis’s advisory classes.
• Group C — Thursday, October 22: Mrs. Moore’s and Mr. Underwood’s advisory classes.

**Students in Mr. Maiden’s and Mr. Weber’s advisory classes have been divided among the three groups for the 8th grade trips. Each student’s assigned group and trip date were listed on the color-coded permission form sent home.

📢 TCMS Parents/Guardians: Student Survey on Monday, Oct. 26

Students in grades 6-8 will be invited to take a 45-minute survey as part of the ICEC project with West Virginia University, which helps build a safe community that prevents teen substance use.

âś… Voluntary: students may skip questions or stop anytime
âś… Anonymous and confidential
âś… Counselors available afterward

Some questions are sensitive and ask about ci******es, alcohol, or other drugs.

Students in Mrs. Wright’s Discover Your Future class had the opportunity to meet with a representative from Fiesta, located in Newell, WV! You may recognize Fiesta for its iconic, colorful dinnerware, including plates, cups, bowls, and more!

This experience is part of our partnership with Explore: The New Manufacturing Program, which introduces students to the exciting opportunities and careers available in West Virginia’s manufacturing industry.

Coming up in the next few months, students will put their creativity to the test by participating in the “Coolest Thing Made in WV” Graphic Design Contest! We look forward to seeing their designs and creativity in action! 🎨✨

Our students had an incredible learning experience last week with Melissa Pajak, Region 4 GHSP Coordinator! Melissa brought a DUI simulator and gave students the opportunity to ride a trike while wearing goggles that simulated the effects of being drunk or high. This hands-on activity helped students understand how impaired judgment, coordination, and reaction time can affect their ability to operate a vehicle safely.

Our students did an amazing job participating, learning, and taking this important lesson seriously!

Yesterday during Club Day, the TCMS Tyler FFA Junior Ag Club put together Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes which were distributed to advisor classrooms. Each advisor classroom will be collecting change in these shoeboxes to help pay the $10 postage per box it will cost to send these to children all over the world. The advisor class that raises the most money will get class prize. We will collect the change until Thursday, November 18th. Students can also start bringing in items to fill Operation Christmas Child boxes and be awarded community service hours. Items will be collected by Mrs. T. Paden until Friday, November 19th, when we have our packing party. We hope to break last year's number of 21 shoeboxes. Good luck & may the best advisor classroom win!

Students in Mrs. Dunham’s Gardening Club added some beauty to the outdoor patio area today by planting fall mums purchased from the TCHS greenhouse.

Today was the final Club Day for the first nine-weeks. Starting next week, students will be changing to their next selected club. There are many things happening during Club Day Mondays at TCMS!
