Anpetug de, we are highlighting Standing Rock Dakota artist Holly Young. She led a Ledger Art workshop for our community as a part of the SWC Traditional Dakota Arts Workshop Series. She has over ten years of experience as an artist and was among those selected to be an Artist-in-Residence for the Minnesota Historical Society.

Holly works with many mediums including beadwork, quillwork, jewelry making, and ledger art. She says that her art is "my humble attempt at conveying my pride in who I am, and my gratitude for those who came before me and left these imprints for us to continue in."

Holly recently released coloring pages (you can find one in the comments below and also by visiting her Facebook profile) and continues to share her knowledge throughout the Dakota Oyate.

Here at SWC, we are deeply proud of the many achievements of our students. As our future leaders, we hope to provide a path and support for them to achieve their educational goals!

Oko de, we recognize Felicity Nicolar for her achievements as a student at SWC. Felicity is majoring in General Studies. She was elected Student Senate President for the 19-20 school year and was named an Indigenous Visionaries Fellow! When she completes her education at SWC, Felicity would like to pursue a degree in medicine.
