Friday, April 24th, our USD-SF Business Club participated in their 3rd Annual Earth Day Campus Cleanup!
They had more helpers this year and to make things interesting, they had a competition between two groups to see who could pick up the most trash. Collectively, they picked up almost 90Ibs of trash! We are so proud of everyone who was there to help. Our facilities staff supported the effort too with a cookout for participates afterwards!

Established in 1956 by USD graduate, Dean Belbas, former VP of General Mills & Board Chairman of the USD Foundation, the Belbas-Larson Award for Excellence in Teaching is the HIGHEST honor USD bestows upon its educators. We are proud to see Senior Lecturer, Dr. Cheryl Hartman, as one of two to win this prestigious award for 2026! Cheryl joined the University of South Dakota Department of Anthropology and Sociology in 2019 teaching Sociology courses at USD - Sioux Falls.
Cheryl's scholarship interests include research on adult third culture kids and on social class, with a new interest in the sociology of religion. She is most proud of the learning engagement she fosters with students as she teaches across a varied course curriculum. Her positive impact on the student learning journey at USD - Sioux Falls has, and continues to, motivate community engagement while developing future leaders in every industry! !

Our Sociology Club building a greater su***de prevention awareness through warning sign assessment tools in partnership with the SD Helpline Center | Compassion in action! The USD-Sioux Falls Sociology Club has been working on developing a needs assessment to identify factors related to suicidal ideation for those 20-29 years old, the age group with the current highest su***de rate. Therefore, the Sociology Club volunteered to develop an assessment that will then be sent to the Helpline Center for revision and distribution. The project has stimulated engagement among students and provided the opportunity to be involved in an applied, real-world project using sociological methods.

Proud to share that we raised $2,420 to support and enhance our student services as a direct result of all the donations we received during !! On a whole, over 3 million was raised for all Coyotes!!

With over 1,500 donors and 2,500 gifts made, the 2026 Unite for USD event raised a record $3.3 million for the Coyote community.
