JFK Elementary School

On their final day of 5th grade at JFK, students went on a field trip to the park. While there they gathered for a final group picture on the equipment. What a great way to wrap up the year!

The Summer Countdown Attendance Challenge is well underway! Each day an entire class has perfect attendance, they earn a sunshine. Each Class has a RAY on the BIG SUNSHINE on the MPR Wall where their earned Sunshines will be added.
Let’s make these last 14 days bright and full of sunshine—Please help your students classroom earn their Sunshines by making sure they are On Time and Present All Day for school.

JFK Kindergarten students were treated to a special magic show performance. All four classes gathered in one room to enjoy this special performance. A few students had the opportunity to stand and help the magician with one of his acts. A great time was had by all the JFK Kindergarten students! Thank you so much for this gift of time and talent that was shared!

Last week, JFK Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten went on a field trip to the Great Plains Zoo. Here are just a few pictures of some of the awesome exhibits and sights that the students saw while on the trip. It was a cool day outside, so some of the large animals were very visible for students. All had a wonderful time and enjoyed the experiences!

In April, JFK Students surpassed our SOAR Slip goal for the month. Congratulations! 🎉 Students earned bubbles and chalk at recess. A great time was had by all with these fun "extras" at recess. Here are just a few pictures of artwork and fun with Bubbles and Chalk!

Kindergarten is going through the alphabet backwards. Today they had X Marks the Spot Day! Students followed the map all the way to the X… and do ye know what treasure we found? 💛 YOU! 💛 The greatest treasure at JFK is our amazing students! There is no gold or jewels that could ever compare!

Everybody Reads - Library Celebration!

Students earned an extra makerspace time in Library for exceeding the Everybody Reads Goal! They got to use the giant Legos as a reward, and they had so much fun! Remember - Keep Reading!

JFK has officially wrapped up our Everybody Reads Challenge! Remember - our these was "Tales of the Trails" - celebrating the state of South Dakota. We spent the month reading trying to move our Buffalo across the state from Mt. Rushmore to Sioux Falls. Our goal to get across the state was ready 17,000 books as "Team JFK".

So... how did we do?? Our final total is 18,621!!
